     Maradu Municipality is an inner suburb and satellite city of the Kochi metropolitan area in Ernakulam district, Kerala. Located just 6 km south of Kochi city center, it spans an area of 12.35 sq km with a population of approximately 51,257. It is bordered by the Vembanad Lake and is a major commercial and residential hub

 

Coordinates: Situated at 9.9370° N, 76.3185° E

 

Taluk and District: Part of Kanayannur taluk in Ernakulam district.

 

Boundaries: Maradu is bordered by Kochi Taluk & Palluruthy Taluk to the west, Edappally Taluk to the north, and Mulanthuruthy Taluk to the east.

Topography & Waterways: It is a coastal municipality heavily influenced by the backwaters of Vembanad Lake and Chilavannoor Lake

 

Connectivity: It is a major transit node where three National Highways—NH 66 (formerly NH 17), NH 85 (formerly NH 49), and NH 966B (Kundannur-Willingdon Island highway)—converge. The Tirunettur Railway Station provides local rail access, while the larger Ernakulam Junction is just a short distance away

 

Administration: Established as a Grama Panchayat in May 1953 and upgraded to a municipality in November 2010, it is currently divided into 35 administrative wards
